What is MyAtlas?

MyAtlas is an independent, locally operated way to receive and use the weather data produced by an AcuRite Atlas weather station.

It was created in response to changes in the services surrounding the Atlas—not because the weather station itself stopped working, but because perfectly good hardware shouldn't have to be replaced simply because the way its data is accessed or shared changes.

MyAtlas receives the weather observations transmitted by the Atlas independently of AcuRite's cloud services. From there, those observations can be shared with supported weather services—including Weather Underground—without requiring an AcuRite NOW+ subscription.

MyAtlas doesn't replace AcuRite's own services. They can continue to operate normally alongside it. Instead, MyAtlas gives the owner another path for the data produced by a weather station they already own.

What happens to that data next is up to the owner. It can be shared with supported weather services, used locally, displayed through an optional dashboard, or used in other applications.

The weather station stays. The owner gains another way to use its data.

Why MyAtlas?

When the services surrounding the AcuRite Atlas began to change, replacing the weather station with another brand would have been an easy option.

But the Atlas itself wasn't the problem. It was still a capable weather station doing exactly what it was designed to do.

And switching manufacturers wouldn't necessarily solve the larger problem. A different company might offer the features and services you want today, but those services, policies, or business models could change tomorrow.

MyAtlas grew from a different idea: don't replace perfectly good hardware just because the services around it change.

Instead, create an independent way to receive and use the weather data the Atlas is already producing.

That approach allows an Atlas owner to continue using AcuRite's services if they choose, while also gaining the freedom to share their weather data with supported services without depending on a subscription-based path.

MyAtlas isn't about abandoning the Atlas. It's about getting more from the Atlas you already own.

Your Data, Your Choice

MyAtlas doesn't dictate what you should do with your weather data. It gives you choices.

You can continue using AcuRite's services while MyAtlas independently receives the observations produced by your Atlas. From there, you decide where those observations go and how they're used.

Share them with supported weather services. Keep them available locally. Build a dashboard if you want one. Use the data in other applications or projects.

The dashboard developed as part of the MyAtlas project is just one example of what's possible—not a requirement for using MyAtlas.

MyAtlas provides the path. What you do with your weather data is up to you.

About the MyAtlas Icon

The MyAtlas icon represents the ideas behind the project.

The raised fist represents ownership and control. The red lightning bolt represents the weather data produced by the Atlas, while the sun, clouds, and rain represent the weather observations the station measures every day.

Rising behind the fist is a 433 MHz antenna with radio waves above it—a reference to the wireless transmissions that allow MyAtlas to receive weather observations directly from the Atlas.

And if the placement of that antenna happens to give the raised fist a little extra attitude, well... that wasn't entirely accidental.

Together, the elements represent the purpose of MyAtlas: take control of the weather data already being transmitted by the station you own and decide for yourself what to do with it.

Your Weather. Your Data. Take It Back!
