About $100 in Additional Hardware
For Atlas owners who already have the weather station, the additional hardware needed to build MyAtlas can be assembled for about $100. That includes a Raspberry Pi, RTL-SDR receiver, 433 MHz antenna, and the basic accessories needed to run the system.
Rather than replacing an otherwise functional weather station, MyAtlas provides another option: keep the Atlas you already own and add an independent path for its weather data.
From Signal to Weather Data
Once the Atlas transmissions reach the Raspberry Pi, MyAtlas turns the received radio data into usable weather observations.
At the heart of that process is the AtlasMQTT driver, developed as part of the MyAtlas project. The driver takes the locally received Atlas data and makes those weather observations available to WeeWX, where they can be collected, organized, stored, and reported.
From there, the observations can be used locally, displayed through an optional dashboard, or shared with supported weather services.
The AtlasMQTT driver is what connects the locally received Atlas data to the rest of the MyAtlas system.
